State of Jefferson band is returning to the islands for their
third annual Hawaii tour. The exact dates are yet to be announced
but the end of March thru April seems about right. State of Jefferson
performs over 200 shows a year on the mainland up and down the
west coast. The band is looking to perform about ten times while
in the Islands, and enjoys a range of performance situations,
i.e. Festivals, Clubs, Parties, etc.. The bands diverse catalogue
includes most popular genres, specializing in Dub, Reggae, Hip
Hop, Jazz, Bluegrass, and the Jam. State of Jefferson has Recently
been the backing band for Hawaii's own Maacho as well as backing
the Seattle Hempfest's house band the Herbivores. The band has
opened for many great international reggae acts such as Prezident
Brown, Yellowman, Midnight, Abyssinians, Culture, Pato Banton
and The Mystic Roots Band, Jah Levi, and the list goes on. The
State of Jefferson is interested in booking, promotional services,
and any other guidance or direction. Although the band has been
working together for over ten years they are still self managed
and do all of their booking and promotion internally. This is
the first quest for outside help, the band is definitely ready
for it!!! The band has been to Oahu the last two years and have
played quite a few places on the Island. The list of venues includes
Mai Tai bar, Boardriders in Kailua, Bikini Cantina, Hawaiian Adventures
Water Park, Anna Bananas, Red Lion, KTUH Monday night live, and
the University of Hawaii Concert Series. The band plans to explore
other islands and would love to make that happen this tour. The
State of Jefferson band has good standing relationships with these
venues and it shouldn't be a problem booking with them for this
trip. Is it possible that working with booking/ promotional help
might make it easier for the band to meet their bottom line? I
think that the best way for this band to operate would be to put
the State of Jefferson on the bill with bands that already are
drawing consistent crowds such as Go Jimmi Go, or Ookla the Moc.
Let me know what you think. Any consideration or direction is
appreciated. Erik V. (541)659-3549 evestnys@yahoo.com www.myspace.com/thestateofjefferson
